    Great on the uphill

Ive used the Zodiacs for 3 seasons... for longer/steeper/scrambly day hikes as well as multiday backpacking and some snowshoeing as well. Quick/non-existent break-in was nice, waterproofing is legit, solid traction up and down, great fit w/ the roomy toe box and great heel hold, great support with heavy pack, durable as ****... no issues after 3 seasons in the Olympics and Cascades. They also excel when things get a little technical. The problem I experience with these is major ball of foot pain on downhills... consistently on most hikes, especially multi-day w/ heavy pack where the downhill pounding is cumulative... significant pain. No hot spots or blisters, just high level of pain across the entire forefoot/ball behind the toes. The mid-sole is nice and stiff which is great for rocky and techy terrain but there is zero shock absorbing qualities in any layer of the sole, including the garbage insoles that come with them... extremely thin with almost non-existent cushion. Easy fix, upgraded footbeds... so got some superfeet "hike support" insoles. Tried those out and wow... super cush, just what I needed. Until I started heading downhill (after a very steep 3,400' vert day with a little scrambling)... needless to say the extra space those superfeet took up in the boot was a disaster. Had to pull the superfeet insoles out about halfway down to give my big toes that room back, but it was too late... was seriously considering going barefoot for the last mile to the…

Best Scarpa boot for all seasons

Love this boot. No real break in and excels in all mountain terrain. I use this for snowshoeing as well and works great. I highly recommend!

    Great Boot, amazing work boot

I have two pairs of these boots I've owned for the last 3-4 years. First pair I bought for summer hiking in southern California mountains (4-8 hr hikes). They are lightweight and the modern design appeals to me.

I owned the first pair for about a year, then after finding they preform amazing as a work boot picked up another. our property is on a very steep slope so every task requires good support, including working on scaffolding and fire abatement. Some days I can't tell which boot is for work or play. Hats off to the quality.

They are a narrow boot for me, and after 8+ hr hikes my toes do feel sore, but the support is worth it & performance is worth it.

    Nice shoe

This is a nice agile hiking shoe that fits my foot fairly well except does not have much arch support like other Scarpa products do. Great for a medium width foot with low arches.

    Great Boots Once Broken In

The Scarpa Zodiac Plus GTX boots took a little time to break in, but now they’re super comfortable. They've been great for hiking in wet snow—the sharp edges and stiffness gave me solid footing and confidence on slippery terrain. Definitely a reliable choice for rough conditions.
