TX COMP (PRINTEMPS 2024)

Scarpa only ntn telie boot that has the stiffness to perform at a high level . . I am 5 foot 9 inches and 160 pounds and find the tx pro way to soft . I use this boot with the intuition wrap liner which provides comfort and stiffness . If the rumours are correct that Scarpa is not making this boot anymore it will be a sad day . I have heard the new Scarpa boot is soft like a old t2 and that does not cut it if you ski larger skis in powder or on the resort . While this boot is not the best touring boot it does the job and allows you to enjoy the downhill after the climb . Scarpa need to make a stiffer and lighter tech toe compatible boot if they want the telie market to expand .

I am on my 3rd pair of Scarpa NTN boots, with this being my 2nd pair of Comps. I'm a 20 year telemark skier, 6' 160lbs with mondo 28, and work full time as a Pro Patroller at Big Sky in the Scarpa Comps with Rottefella Freeride bindings. The build quality is good and components are decent. The walk mode is a weak point, and you should exercise caution in relying on it. The powerblock mechanism can get stuck in walk mode and has a clunky feel when using it. I strictly use these in a resort setting and would prefer a boot design with no walk mode but with an adjustable forward lean locking mechanism to dial in a custom cuff angle for personal preference. I abuse these boots daily in a rugged environment and really test their limits. I get 3 to 4 seasons out of a shell and the wear and tear on the boot is reasonable. I do wish Scarpa would reliably sell the ski edge rub guards for the Q-link midstrap cable and the bellows. If you can find the parts you'll have to buy a whole cable replacement kit and a whole new tongue to replace those guards. It's a waste and you're forced to buy things you don't want or need. The boot fit is generous and fits a high volume foot best. I have a medium volume fit and usually require some space to be taken up in the stock liners. I typically discard the stock liner and get an Intuition power wrap liner to increase cuff stiffness and increase foot warmth for long days on Lone Mountain. I’ve been in the industry as a professional skier for over thirty years and this is a good boot.

I wear a 27 period

The boots narrow like old school race boots and it works good for hard core skiers

It’s relatively stiff for a telemark boot and turns a light ski well in alpine or telemark turns.

I’ve been wearing the boot now for three years probably 250 day plus and it’s got good longevity

I’ve been using the 22 design bindings with good luck if you able to adjust the binding perfectly

Over all they are a good boot

If I could have my wish the liner should be better for the money and the shell should have a zeppa board for the base of the shell

Also if the tongue was a little stiffer then you would have an amazing boot

I’m happy to ski on them the way they are and I just purchased a new pair but that’s my professional opinion
