PLANÈTE MESCALITO POUR FEMMES

I haven’t had a chance to take these out on the trails yet since I haven’t had the time, so I figured I’d break them in a bit by wearing them at work first. Honestly, I don’t think they really needed any breaking in because they’ve been comfy right from the start!

I’m usually a US 10 / EU 42, so I ordered a 42, but they ended up running about half a size, maybe even a full size, too big for me. I did notice a little bit of pain/pressure on the top of my foot where the crease is near the toe. That said, I really liked that the laces extend further down toward the toe, since I was able to adjust them to take some of the pressure off and make the fit more comfortable. I think sizing down for a better fit would probably help with this even more.

Other than that, they’re a really comfortable shoe, and I’m excited to finally get them out on some trails and try them on some via ferratas!

Love these— but I'm going to order my next pair (soon) a half size smaller. I've been a Scarpa 41 approach shoe fit for decades and go down a half size for performance fit. This model seems larger— with the caveat that the footbed liner is quite minimal compared to some of Scarpa's past approach shoe offerings.

I slipped in a pair of footbeds from the Phantom Tech ice boot and these rock for cruising the backcountry. Looking forward to a more normal (for me) fitting pair as I prefer a thinner footbed for flitting about on more sketchy terrain in the mountains.

I have had a pair of these for 14 months if heavy use and they are just now burning through in the front toe. They wet my daily approach shoe, daily shoe, and used a lot on moderate warm up climbs. The fabric is still in great shape. Only the sole has signs of wear due to all The climbing I did with them. Highly recommended. They don’t climb as well as the gecko but are more cushioned and comfortable to use on approaches.

I have only owned these shoes for a short period of time, so I can't make any comments on durability or how they perform for scrambling. I was looking for an approach shoe that would fit my wide feet and based on other comments I saw on the internet these shoes seemed like my only option. While the Mescalito doesn't come in wide sizes I've found that the toe box has adequate room and I can wear these all day without any issues. I normally wear a EE or EEE or the widest shoe I can find. The fit in the toe box looks like it will be close to perfect as with the laces snugged up I can probably climb lower 5th class without a problem, but still hike in with the laces loosened up. My feet are kind of cursed as I have wide feet and skinny heels and while the toe box seems to work out well the heel cup in these shoes is wide for my heels and I get a lot of movement, but I have ways to deal with that. The cushion is adequate (my feet generally live in Hoka's) and its probably the right balance of having enough cushion so you can put miles in with the shoe, but not too much that it would impact being able to climb/scramble in the shoe. Overall, I'mm just happy to be able to find an approach shoe that comes close to fitting feet. I would buy again.
