    Exceptional quality

I've owned a leather pair of these indestructible Kailash boots for a few years and have worn the tread down over a thousand or so mountain miles. I was temped to get them resoled, since the uppers don't have a stitch out of place, but this model runs a little small. I decided instead to size up and went for the suede "Trek" version. After about 60 or 70 hard trail miles, I can say that the Treks offer the same excellent traction and ruggedness. The only difference I've noticed is the shorter break-in time on the Treks. It took me a good 100 miles to break the stiffness out of the leather version, but the suede ones are pretty well loosened up already. Note that these boots have a very stiff midsole and aren't suitable for long hikes on soft surfaces. If you're dealing with rocky environments and steep climbs, however, they're brilliant. The most rugged boots you'll find under 3 lbs./pair.

    Very well made boot.

Received the boots last week and immediately took them on a 3-day trail maintenance project, I did a moderate amount of hiking with tools. Good support, comfortable early in the day and felt a little tight in the forefoot later in the day. Hopefully, with more use the toe box will loosen up. Ordered size 46.5 in wide, I normally wear 12 wide in trail running shoes.

    Updated After Trekking

This review is a follow up to my prior contribution. I just returned from a 16-day trek in the Everest region of the Nepal Himalaya. All I can say is I love these boots. Averaging 6.5 hours of trekking a day, with all of the ups and downs of Nepali flat, and a 30 pound load on my back, these boots were perfect. Not a single minute of discomfort, no hot spots at all, no blisters, nothing! This is my second pair of Scarpas, suffice it to say I would never consider any other company's boots for my hiking, backpacking, and trekking needs!

Nearly Perfect Out of the Box

Needed to replace my 2010 Scarpa Z/Gs due to changes in my feet, apparently the change with age. First ordered the Kailish Plus GTX Wide, but they didn't quite fit right. Sent them back and ordered the Kailish Trek GTX Wide fit, and am glad that I did. Right out of the box I did 90 minutes on the treadmill (didn't want to wear them outside given Scarpa's return policy) with a 5 degree incline at 3 mph. A minor rub after an hour, but nothing major. Since then I've put about 60 miles on these bad boys as I train for a trek to Everest Base Camp in May. Not quite as comfortable as my slippers, but extremely comfortable with no rubs, hot spots, or other issues. I know this, I might struggle in Nepal, but it won't be due to these boots!

    Goldilocks Boots

After trying on various hiking boots and research , settled on Kailash Trek GTX (W) .

Went on the first hike today and here is what i find

Its sort of sweet spot between comfort, support , flexibility and traction.

For the most part i forgot that i was wearing a new boot - which is what you want to achieve in an ideal boot

the only time i noticed it was when the tongue didnt stay put close to the feet -will see if its design flaw or the way i had tied laces
