SCARPA has just returned from 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell, full of stories…some which can be told and some that will stay in the canyon. 24 of HHH is what some would call an “ultra-like” rock climbing competition and festival, held every year at the end of September. The madness of this event unfolds deep within the cliffs of Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Jasper, Arkansas. Two-person teams compete in a 12 or 24 hour endurance event to see who can score the most points by climbing as many routes at they can, in that period of time. If you’re not on the wall, putting your body through “horseshoe hell”, you’re probably partaking in the 5-day festival of food, music, games, competition, and of course, partying.

This year’s competition delivered multiple, record-breaking performances from its’ contenders. Jeremy Collins broke the record of most routes climbed by an individual (299), Hayden Jamieson and Dalton Bunker received the highest team score in history (78,760), and Ardian Prishtina busted Alex Honnald’s record with an individual score of 45,510.

This edition of 24 hours of Horseshoe Hell was definitely crazier than ever, but I think we say that every year. Starting things off with a full marching band, and continuous antics of on-site tattoos, head shaves, over-the-top costumes, and straight up debauchery, let’s just say that we can’t wait to go back.
