Biography

Telemark skiing first came into my life when I was a young teenager. I was on a family ski trip to Telluride and I started noticing all the local bad asses were on tele gear effortlessly flowing through the the steepest terrain with faces and attire that reflected their mountain savvy lifestyle. I decided at that point I wanted to be one of them. Fast forward a decade and I was competing on the World Telemark Freeskiing Tour. Ultimately my involvement and the community I became a part of would lead me into the backcountry. Today I live in Park City, UT, and spend all of my time playing in the mountains and sharing my passion with others. Whether guiding for a cat ski operation, taking out my own clients through my company Inspired Summit Adventures, or getting out for a personal day or mission I am continuously in awe of the life I get to lead. It is a life I love to share in hopes of being an example of what following your dreams can afford you. No, I am not a millionaire who gets to heli ski around the world, but I am rich in all of the important ways. I have a daughter, a great husband who is my partner in all things adventure and otherwise, two ridiculous dogs and an abundance of time and space to experience it all. If life is about the journey than we owe it to ourselves to make that journey rad!

Q & A

  1. How did you get involved with your respective sport?: I met a group of guys in college who helped me dial in my tele skills and introduced me to the backcountry. Before I knew it I was curious to try my hand at competing in the Tele Freeskiing Tour. From that point on I was part of the family.
  2. Who were your influences early in life?: My grandfather was a pretty profound early influence. He had been introduced to skiing in the 40s over in the Alps and fell in love. Growing up I wanted to be as tough and as smooth as him. He skied until he was 80 despite being legally blind.
  3. What draws you to the outdoors?: Perspective. Nature offers a clear reflection of our place in the world. It gives a freedom from the day to day constraints and allows us to see the true scale and scope of the world we live in and inspires us to stay humble but be great.
  4. What do you like about SCARPA as a brand?: Scarpa is all about family and stays true to its roots.
  5. Why do you trust SCARPA products?: Hand made in Italy. Need I say more?
  6. What gets you out of bed on big days?: On big days I usually have a hard time sleeping the night before. I am gripped with excitement and anticipation thinking about each step, each crux, and how the weather, terrain, and snow is going to influence our day. It's hard to keep the stoke at bay.
  7. What is your best excuse for skipping training?: Spending time with our Daughter.
  8. Favorite recovery/apres beverage?: Turmeric tea
  9. If you had a baseball walkup song, what would it be?: Eye of the Tiger
  10. What's the last movie that made you cry?: Lion
  11. What's your dream trip or expedition?: It's not the grandest of dreams, but it's my newest--A winter expedition into the Wind River Range
  12. What makes a good adventure partner?: Patient, level headed, honest.
  13. Two truths and a lie: I toured the day before I gave birth to our daughter. I love avocados. I can open a bottle with my teeth.
