MESCALITO TRK PLANET GTX WOMEN'S

These boots really are awesome. I wear a size EU 48, or US 14, and these boots in that size fit my feet perfectly, leaving me plenty of room to wiggle my toes and cross them inside these works of art, whether I’m wearing thick backpacking socks or socks with a thickness appropriate for day hikes in hot weather. The material is very tough and rigid, so that when you lace these beasts up and tie them tightly, it’s as if you have bestowed four-wheel-drive, as it were, to your feet; yet the boots, for all their obvious toughness and durability, are not heavy. In fact, I will go so far as to say they are fairly light, at least in my opinion they are. I wore them for 8 hours yesterday at work in a retail store, and even by the end of the day, despite the fact that they lack, of course, the cushioning of running shoes, my feet still felt great at the end of the day. And I walk all day long at work, all day. SCARPA boots are matchless. I have a pair of SCARPA Kinesis GTX, too. They are easily the best boots that have ever been made, and the Mescalito GTX is a better boot than any made by the competitors of SCARPA. By the way, I have had the Mescalito GTX boots for less than a week, and they were as comfortable as hell right out of the box. Why are SCARPA boots so damn good? Because SCARPA, it is clear, truly cares about quality and detail, and it really does show. Thank you SCARPA.

I was looking around for some great quality boots compared to my old LL Bean stuff. These boots are well worth the extra money. I really like the synthetic materials since I'm lazy about treating leather. They fit my long feet perfectly in a size 49 (I measure just over 14 US, fairly narrow foot). The boots should last for years, and I highly recommend them.

I use this boot for winter bicycling in extreme cold down to 0F (-18C). The stiff Vibram sole works well on platform pedals. I sized up from a usual size 48EU to a size 50EU, and that allows me to wear a heavier sock. I'm so glad Scarpa offers this boot in a size 50! I have a high instep and Scarpa gives me just enough volume over the top of the forefoot so I'm comfortable. There's enough volume for me to use a thermal (6mm wool felt) insole. There is also enough space above the toe box for use of toe warmer packs. I was worried this boot may be too stiff for bicycling, but the boot has broken in quickly and works great for this winter activity. This is my 4th pair of Scarpas and I've always loved the fit, quality and durability.

Synthetic version of Mescalito TRK, solid construction, D-E width forefoot, medium high volume, ample room for orthotic, torsionally stiff although not as stiff as Zodiac Plus (which works as a general mountaineering boot), more heel and forefoot cushion than ZP. Not a true mountaineering boot, but sufficiently stiff for most off-trail travel and could be paired with hinged strap-on crampons for snow/glacier walking (but not stiff enough for frontpointing). Very comfortable ride for a boot of this stiffness.
