Reviews Summary
Customers say these approach shoes are exceptionally comfortable and durable, with many wearing them daily for years. The shoes offer excellent grip on various terrain and work well for hiking, scrambling, and light climbing up to 5.9-5.10 grades. Users appreciate the wide toe box and supportive fit, though some mention they run narrow and may require upsizing by half a size. The leather construction provides durability, with many customers on their third or fourth pair. Common feedback includes the tongue sliding to one side during use, which some find annoying but manageable. Many reviews mention the shoes' versatility for both outdoor activities and everyday wear, with excellent traction on rock and trail surfaces.

    Wonderful shoe

Function, fit, quality, value, Scarpa shoes have served me well. I especially appreciate they still make suede and leather options. Was really happy with the men's Gecko, seems this is the replacement for that.

Update after some time with my 2nd pair of these great shoes

I've been wearing these shoes for the last few years, and find they suit me perfectly in every aspect but one. The laces that they come with just don't hold up. With this 2nd pair, I went through 2 sets of laces within 3 months, before opting to buy a boot company's product which uses waxed laces. 4 stars, only because of the lace issue. 5 otherwise!

The switch is remarkable. The original laces come undone readily, and also wear on the eyelets. With the waxed laces, they stay tied, and the wax both acts as a lubricant through the eyelets and works to prevent dirt and grime from getting into the laces and degrading them at the eyelets (where they're prone to breaking while attempting to tighten to keep them from coming untied with factory laces).

I'd highly recommend Obenauf's laces for anyone else who may have experienced the broken lace problem!

    New Crux shoes

I like the update to the original Crux shoes. I had my last pair for 5 or so years and loved them. The new Crux shoes seem to be quite similar, however, they do seem to have a sole that is bit stiffer than the last pair (when new), if I remember correctly. They are not too stiff but might need a short break-in period where my last ones didn't.

One additional comment, both this new pair and my last, I had to upsize a half-size (US), as they ran a bit narrow, if I chose my normal size but with the upsizing, both length and width are good. I do like the updated and more muted color way, though...that is indeed an upgrade.
